Kid related Community Events
November 23rd at the Riverview Kinsmen Community Centre from 10-2 there is a fun event where children who are 3 and up can go in and buy christmas gifts for their families.
Last year one of my students went and their mom said it was fantastic the children can take 10 bucks and there is a person there who helps them pick out and wrap all the gifts they want for their family. All of the gifts are donated so there is some interesting stuff (i heard the wild cats donated a lot of tickets). Great way to empower children at Christmas time!

November News
I cannot believe that it is already November 10th! I know I say something like this every time I log in but this is crazy how fast time is going! All of the kids are growing and changing every day. I am very proud of all of them for all of the hard work they are doing!
November like every other month is going to be busy busy!
*insert schedule*
I sent home a calendar with each child and our Pet Show wall already has photos of 3 lovely puppies and one kitten! The children love sharing their pets and I heard a few of my little buddies took photos of their stuffies to share!
I will come back to edit the schedule for the month but we will be focusing on animals both pets and farm animals and will be continuing on in letterland! We are starting H on Tuesday so we are really getting a good review of each letter.
The Christmas Concert's date has been set for December 3rd! The kids already know their songs and are superstars!
I hope everyone is enjoying their long weekend as long as me, Isaac and Libby are!
Have a nice couple of days off and see you all on Tuesday!

Pumpkin Fun!
Ok I am so excited about everything we did today I have to share it with you in detail! My little white board will not do today!
During circle time I introduced a special guest, our pumpkin.
We talked about the pumpkin and I asked the children to come up with ideas of things you could do with a pumpkin, some of their answers were:
- knock on it
- carve it
- make a silly face on it
- cut it
- punch it
- throw it up in the air and catch it
- sit on it
- roll it
Then we tried out some of these things, they used it as a chair, knocked on it, it was rolled around a whole lot, I let them hit it, and they all tried to pick it up. When they tried to pick it up they realized that the pumpkin was very heavy!
That is where our next activity came into play. I asked the children one at a time to each compare the weight of the pumpkin to the item. The results were that we found out that a pumpkin is heavier than the garbage can, a feather, a book, and a chair. The pumpkin was lighter than the daycare, the fish tank, Miss Tina, and a car.
The next activity was for the children to predict what they think the inside of the pumpkin looks like. They were super creative with their answers some of which were rocks, nothing, candy, chocolate bars, gooey orange stuff, and pumpkin guts.
When we opened the pumpkin the children were very interested to see what was inside. We pulled out all the seeds and talked about how they felt, how the pumpkin smelled and what it looked like. Once we cleaned out the pumpkin we got out paper and we drew pictures of what the inside of the pumpkin looked like. We had some great seeds and lots of gooey lines.
Once this was complete the children watched as I carved the pumpkin and we put it out in the cubby room for everyone to see.
The final part of the day was when we roasted the pumpkin seeds and the children got to taste them after we had snack. Some of the children did not want to even try the seeds, some did not like them, some liked them at first and then decided they did not like them and the rest LOVED them!
What a great "hands on learning" experience for all of us!
I look forward to many more fun days like today!

September 25th
It is only 3 months until Christmas...
That has nothing to do with this post!
Today half of my class chose to work on writing their names on paper. I put the papers in the children's cubbies. Please let you children know how wonderful they are doing! Their work is fantastic and only after 3 weeks of preschool! Each child has something different to work on for our next step so we will continue on but what a great little group of children!
Today in class we talked about birth order in families. We used our names to graph who in the class is the oldest child, the youngest child, an only child and the middle child. We found out that most of us are younger children (poor SB & MB should have had a I'm a twin category, I guessed that S was older), we have two only children and with the exception of myself (middle child) everyone else is an older child.
After this we read a few Halloween books! I was really impressed by MP who was the only person in the class, myself included, who noticed a very small but important detail in the book!
Alot of my friends brought toys with them today, just so you know I am ok with the children bringing a toy to class with them as long as they are not distracted by it. If it goes as well as today it would be fantastic.
In gym we did an exercise on following directions. The children have listened to and danced to this CD last year but today was the first time they did the song without me! I was so impressed! They are really great listeners (and dancers)!
In Letterland we talked about Dippy Duck our newest friend. He makes the Da sound while he flaps his wings. I didn't go too far with him today because I want to make sure they are clear on AB & C before moving on.
We also had free time and the class enjoyed some time with Miss Jasmine while I was off to My Gym with the Afterschoolers.
Tomorrow the preschools will be going to My Gym!
Please keep the family photos coming! The kids who brought them so far enjoy sharing with everyone!
Have a great night! Tina

Week 3 update week 4 information!
This past week we had a lot of fun learning about apples. The children already knew so much but we were able to add to our knowledge and to visit the orchard and have an educational tour where even their teacher found out some new things!
If you have time to slip into our classroom and check out our apple wall we will be taking it down on Tuesday to set up our Family wall!
As you can tell we are stepping away from apples and heading into family trees and then families. Being from a huge country family the whole family tree idea was a task for me as a child so I will leave it up to the children who they would like to add. However, I will encourage parents, siblings and grandparents. If the children want to add extended family, friends, and pets that will be up to them! Like all of our families our trees will be unique and beautiful!
Letter of the week is D- Next week we will be looking at all letters from A-D for a review!
Monday will be our first music lesson! Beth, our teacher, will be at the center for 10!
Tuesday is swimming 8:30am
Wednesday we will be going bicycling *please bring bikes, scooters, and helmets.
Thursday is my (favorite) gym!
Friday we will be having a homeday!
I look forward to another wonderful week with your wee scholars! Have a fantastic weekend
Miss Tina
Also if you are looking for a fun adventure this weekend Sackville Fall Fair is happening. http://sackville.com/community/fallfair/ . So much family fun!

We will be adding the photos to our class wall, the children just love to share their home lives with us! After I remove these photos I will be putting them in a book in the classroom to add to our bookshelf so please if you want a photo returned let me know!

Mid Month Update!
Wow! Mid month?! This cannot be already? The past two weeks have flown by! Me and Isaac are both excited but are in need of the weekend to recharge!
So far we have had our first swimming lesson, our first library visit, our first trip to my gym and our first nature hike! The children are always so excited to go on the bus! We have made friends with the Trites class and got to know our own class better. We have lining up down pat and are working on taking turns while talking and raising our hands. We are working on perfecting our snack time and washroom schedules but I'm sure that will be all straightened out!
The children have mastered A and are well on their way to learning B!
Math is going well too I cannot believe how well the children can count and figure out simple problems. Even when I try to stump them they seem to figure it out!
Science & French will be starting this week which will add some more fun to our already exciting schedule.
This coming week we will start out with Home Day on Monday. We are going to start out the week talking about apple trees in preparation for our trip to the orchard on Friday!

I saw NL, EG, and AG doing somersaults, SB was the queen of the cat crawl, MB was awesome on the beams, TH LOVED the trampoline, AC & MP were very impressed with the fun puppet show, SR & LK were both spotted climbing the climbing wall right up to the ceiling!!!! Miss Tina of course took a turn in the ball pit and yes it is just as fun as when I was a child! Great day for all!

September update
Wow I cannot believe how fast this month is going!
Language - Already we have mastered the letter A. The sound that A makes and know all about Annie Apple. This week we are reviewing A while heading into B.
The children picked up very quickly on A and when shown a group of photos are able to pick out which ones start with an A sound!
Math - In math we have been counting everything! Our friends, Apples, toys, everything around us! The children are experts in counting to 10 and some are even going as high as 20! Great!
We are starting to compare numbers ie. Which has more? Which has less?
Swimming- Went swimmingly!!! For the most part there were lots of splashes and smiles! We did have a few who watched from the side lines but just dipping their feet in on the first day is a win for me! We have an instructor who is doing the First Aid Swim Course with the children!

** new trip added September Field Trips & Classes
September Field Trips
Friday September 6th - Library- we will be visiting the library and learning how to sign out books! This will be a frequent trip allowing the children to choose their own books for our class library.
Monday September 9th - home day
Tuesday September 10th - swimming - Please send your child wearing their suit under their clothing. Each child will need a bathing cap and towel. I have found that packing your child a whole new set of clothing including socks and underwear in a large zipper bag (labeled) makes changing after swimming a lot less stressful on everyone.
Thursday September 12th - My Gym
Friday September 13th - Dobson Trail Nature collection
Tuesday September 17th - Swimming
Friday September 20th - Apple Picking
Monday September 23rd - music lessons
Tuesday September 24th - Swimming
Thursday September 26th - My Gym
Myself and Miss Ashley from Trites will be adding a few more trips for the month of September. Please check the whiteboard outside my class for updates!
This is going to be great!

September Newsletter
Hey Parents!
Welcome to Preschool Enrichment!!! I am so excited for the coming year and all the great changes in the preschool program! This is a big deal for Pine Glen! I believe that all the parents know me
but let me take a minute to introduce myself. I am of course Miss Tina, I have been working with Hands on Learning for about a year and a half. I started out covering another teacher in Enrichment at Trites, then I moved to a 2 year old class, and finally came over to Pine Glen in October to teacher the regular Preschool. I have two children who go to the Trites location, Isaac and Libby. Before having children and finding my place in preschool I spent years travelling Canada volunteering and lived in West Africa for half a year. I have a child and youth care diploma from Oultons as well as a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and a Bachelor of Education both from Crandall University. I love teaching Preschool, I cannot wait to see what we can learn this year!
September is going to be a month of practicing routines and procedures. We will be practicing how to be safe in the daycare and while out on adventures (I love adventures). With all this practicing we will start working on Letterland and we will be going through A-D. The children are also signed up for Swimming Lessons at St. Pats Family Center http://www.stpatsfamilycentre.com/, music lessons with Beth from http://www.myc.com/, as well as biweekly trips to My Gym http://www.mygym.com/greatermoncton, and fun field trips which will take us to an Apple Orchard and beyond!
I hope you enjoy September as much as we will! Please contact me if you have any questions and I will direct you to the right place!
Have a fantastic month!
**please check the calendar for dates etc**
